Chief executive attends official launch of healthy living centre

Our Chief Executive Adam Doyle attended the official launch of the James Williams Healthy Living Centre in Chatham on Wednesday, 3 June.

Funded by NHS Kent and Medway, and Medway Council, and managed by Medway Community Healthcare, the £15million centre has been designed to make accessing healthcare easier, more joined-up, and closer to the community.

Named in honour of James Williams, Medway Council's former Director of Public Health, the centre stands as a lasting legacy to his work in improving health outcomes and tackling inequalities across the region.

It has been developed to bring a wide range of primary and community health services together under one roof, improving access to care and helping address health inequalities in one of Medway's most deprived areas.

In March, Bryant Street Medical Practice and Maritime Health Partnership both relocated to the healthy living centre.

The centre hosts a range of Medway Community Healthcare services, allowing residents to receive joined-up care in a single location rather than travelling between multiple sites. Services include community-based clinics and outreach provision aligned to local population need

The building has already been used as a community response site during the meningitis outbreak in Kent, demonstrating its flexibility and resilience role within the system.
