Book your vaccines ahead of Christmas

People who are most likely to get seriously ill from flu or Covid are being urged to come forward to get the best possible protection in time for Christmas.

Hundreds of sites across Kent and Medway are offering vaccines to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people.

Pregnant women, toddlers, people with certain medical conditions, over 65s and frontline health and social care workers are all eligible for the free flu vaccine this winter.

Those eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine include care home residents, over 75s and people with a weakened immune system.

Appointments can be booked online, via the NHS App or by calling 119 for free. You can also contact your GP practice for the flu vaccination.

You can visit a pop-up clinic, which are taking place in village halls, libraries and community centres across Kent and Medway. No appointment is needed, just walk-in.

Dr Kate Langford, chief medical officer at NHS Kent and Medway, said: “It is important to top up your protection, even if you have had a vaccine or been ill with flu or Covid-19 before, as immunity fades over time and these viruses change each year.

“These viruses often peak over the festive and new year period. Nobody wants to miss out on the festive celebrations with their friends and family this winter and nobody wants to be in hospital with flu or Covid.

“I urge all those eligible to join thousands of others who have taken up their free vaccine offer. Don't put it off, book your appointment today and protect yourself this winter.”
