Appointment of interim chief nursing officer

26 June 2023

Allison Cannon, Chief Nursing Officer at NHS Sussex Health and Care, is to become interim chief nurse at NHS Kent and Medway, in addition to her duties in Sussex. Following her resignation, Dame Eileen Sills will leave NHS Kent and Medway after a period of annual leave.

Allison has been a nurse for more than 30 years and has held a number of senior nurse leadership roles in commissioning and provider organisations. Allison was awarded a Florence Nightingale leadership scholar in 2017.

Paul Bentley, Chief Executive of Kent and Medway, said: “I am delighted that Allison has been able to join us. I am particularly grateful that she does so at short notice. She is highly experienced and respected and will bring essential nursing leadership to the driving principle of NHS Kent and Medway to serve the people we serve more effectively.”
