General practice update - November 2023

9 January 2024

More than 960,000 appointments were offered by general practices in Kent and Medway last November.

The figures, released by NHS England, show 63 per cent of these appointments were face-to-face or home visits. The data also shows more than 45,000 people did not attend their appointments.

More than 10million appointments were offered by practices in Kent and Medway between January and November 2023.

During the same period in 2022, 9.4million appointments were offered to patients and 8.6million to the same point in 2021.

Most people who are unable to attend their appointment cancel them to allow other people in need to use them. We would urge anyone who can no longer attend any appointment (be it with their GP practice, a vaccination appointment, or a hospital appointment) to please let their practice know.
