GP appointment data - January 2023

27 February 2023

New figures released by NHS England show that 945,208 appointments were offered by general practices in Kent and Medway last month. Of those appointments, 64 per cent were face-to-face or home visits.

Having now had a full set of statistics for 2022, the data now reports that between January and December last year, general practice teams offered over 10million appointments. That's the equivalent of every person in Kent and Medway having five appointments with their practice team. This is significantly higher than each of the previous years full data is available for.

The data also shows that more than 43,000 people did not attend their appointments last month.

We would urge anyone who can no longer attend any appointment (be it with their GP practice, a vaccination appointment, or a hospital appointment) to please cancel them. This allows the NHS to use the time to see other patients in need.
