The NHS national booking system is now open for bookings for the Covid-19 spring vaccination programme.
The eligible cohorts are:
- adults aged 75 years and over
- residents in a care home for older adults
- individuals aged six months and over who have a weakened immune system.
Booking opened on Monday, 15 April, with appointments available from Monday, 22 April. The programme will end on 30 June 2024.
The NHS is sending texts, emails, NHS App messages or letters to those who are eligible, but you do not have to wait for the invite to book.
Anyone eligible can book a vaccine appointment via the NHS website.
Or by phoning 119 for free (translation services available).
Parents or carers can book a vaccination for children under 16 on their behalf. Eligible people aged 16 and over can also use the NHS App to book an appointment.
Dr Ash Peshen, Deputy Chief Medical Director at NHS Kent and Medway, said: "Vaccines are vital for protecting the population of Kent and Medway. Covid is still prevalent and a risk for vulnerable people this spring so my message is clear, please have your covid vaccine."
Medway Council’s Director of Public Health, James Williams, said: “I want to encourage anyone who is eligible to make sure they get their Covid-19 booster. Getting vaccinated is the best way to make sure that you protect yourself and reduce your risk of becoming unwell.”
Kent County Council Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr Ellen Schwartz, said: “We are learning to live with Covid-19 but the virus hasn’t gone away.
“It means it’s still important for our most elderly residents and people with a weakened immune system to top up their protection as they are most at risk from getting seriously unwell and requiring hospital treatment.
“If you’re eligible, please book for the spring booster as soon as you are invited to do so by the NHS. And if you don’t want to wait, use the NHS website, app or 119 to make an appointment today.”
