Thousands hop on board health bus for vaccines

HWB bus news image.pngNHS staff on board a health and wellbeing bus are celebrating one year on the road.

The converted double decker bus has been in business for 12 months now and during that time the clinical team has provided more than 7,500 Covid-19 vaccines and 7,400 health checks.

Managed by NHS Kent and Medway’s Vaccine Team, the bus team has seen more than 100,000 people in more than 50 different locations.

The health and wellbeing bus in numbers:

  • 111,870 public interactions
  • 7,684 Covid-19 vaccinations
  • 7,490 health checks
  • 63 A&E referrals
  • 181 same day GP appointments1,414 standard GP referrals

With the Covid-19 booster campaign nearly finished (as of 31 January), the clinical team will resume health checks onboard the bus including blood pressure and BMI checks.

Diary dates

•    Dockside Outlet shopping centre, Chatham – Fridays, 10am to 4pm.
•    Tesco store, Sheerness – Tuesdays (from 6 February), 10am to 4pm.

No appointment is needed, the bus is a drop-in service.
