Thousands of people at risk of serious illness can be protected for free

1 December 2023

Many people who are more likely to get very ill from Covid-19 or flu are putting their health at risk by not taking up a free NHS vaccination.

This includes pregnant women and those with asthma, COPD, chronic diseases or are morbidly obese.

People with certain medical conditions making them more vulnerable to the impacts of flu and Covid-19 should book their jabs today and get protected.

Dr Ash Peshen, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at NHS Kent and Medway, said: “There are a number of different health conditions that mean you are at greater risk of serious complications from flu and Covid-19.

“Even if your health condition is well managed, the vaccines are still important to protect you and your family. It’s really important not to delay and to get vaccinated now.”

Find out if you are eligible and where to get your vaccine at www.getvaccinatednow.co.uk. The website is run by NHS Kent and Medway and includes a map of walk-in services.

People can also book a vaccination online by 14 December. Walk-in services will continue after that date.
